Family Challenges

#1 –  FAMILY DINNER

Plan a sit down meal with your family, AND leave the phones in the other room.  No social media distractions!

#2 – FAMILY DEVOTION/PRAYER TIME

Choose a time to have a short family devotion each night.  Let each member take a night.

Choose a YOU VERSION devotion for your family to read each day this week, and discuss what you read.

#3 – CREATE A FAMILY MOTTO
We know your family doesn’t need one, but family mottos are unifying, empowering, helpful, fun, and unique!
        • First things first – what is a family motto?
A family motto is usually a short quip, something easy to memorize, repeat, and recall, that typifies your family’s beliefs or view about life. Some are inspirational, and many encourage better behavior and choices among family members.
        • How do you choose a family motto?
There isn’t really a wrong way to pick a family motto. Many mottoes happen naturally over time as someone in the family struggles with something and is frequently cheered on by the same phrase. Parents may have their own life mottoes or philosophies they pass onto their children, while some use their favorite scripture verse as their motto.
        • Examples of Motto

o “We can do hard things.” –based on the scripture Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
o “It’s not whose right but what’s right.”
o “Remember who you are.”
o “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” – Luke 1:37
o “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should”

#2 – CHOOSE ‘ONE WORD’ FOR YOUR FAMILY

• One word you can focus on every day, all year long… One word that sums up who you want your family to be or how you want to live.
• It will take intentionality and commitment, but if you let it, your one word will become the compass that directs your decisions and guides your steps.
